This is a remote position, covering the Midwest and West Coast territory
We’re seeking a Director of University Sales who excels in navigating the nuances of selling to colleges and universities. The ideal candidate will be skilled in executing strategies to effectively target institutions, network, generate Requests for Proposals (RPFs), and identify opportunities within the higher education and adjacent sectors.
Additionally, the Director of University Sales ensures the long-term success of our client engagements by developing strong relationships and identifying new sales opportunities across their client portfolio. The Director is responsible for connecting with key business executives and stakeholders to expand SRM’s services within the client organization.
Sales/Account/Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies to secure new sales opportunities with colleges and universities, demonstrating a clear understanding of the mechanics of selling to the higher education sector.
- Proactively prospect new accounts and generate leads through strategic market research, targeted outreach, and networking
- Demonstrated experience identifying and pursuing RFPs and non-RFP opportunities
- Pursue new sales opportunities and develop relationships with current customers.
- Serve as the lead external point of contact for all matters specific to their clients.
- Determine frequency of client visits and conduct regular check ins and client reviews.
- Forecast and track key account metrics to drive sales performance.
- Identify and execute on strategies to grow opportunities.
- Lead new business pitches and presentations.
- Engage comfortably in business dialogue and offer guidance to multiple levels of management.
- Maintain a collaborative environment on the client side by developing communication with different teams or departments.
- Actively cross-sell Six Red Marbles services where possible.
- An in-depth understanding in the preparation of proposals, statements of work, master service agreements, and other contracts for clients, making sure they adhere to Six Red Marbles’ standards and best practices.
Project Engagement and Communication
- Collaborate with the project team, assisting with prioritization, issue escalation, coordinating client communication.
- Lead all efforts to maintain and grow the business relationship with the assigned client portfolio.
- Promote and foster a strong team culture and open and transparent communication with the project team.
- Act as a point of escalation on issues pertaining to the delivery, change orders, or client relationship that can’t be resolved at the project level.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience prospecting and selling educational services to colleges and universities with additional experience in virtual high schools and workforce training preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written) across all levels, both internally and with clients.
- Strong customer relationship building, problem-solving, and negotiation skills in a client-facing environment.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously; proven success at managing large, complex, or particularly challenging clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work and manage effectively under significant deadline pressure.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams/matrix management.
- Knowledge of the education publishing industries a must.
- Willing to travel monthly for client visits and/or conferences.
